This rum belongs to the Double Aged series of the Puerto Rican Serrallés distillery and is made from different molasses rums distilled on column stills. For the special type of maturation, ex-Bourbon barrels made of American white oak were first used. After the barrels were blended, the rum was refined for about 3 years in French oak barrels that had previously been filled with cognac. The Don Q brand - in homage to the well-known novel character Don Quixote - is produced at the Puerto Rican Distilleria Serrales. In order to maintain a very high quality standard, the molasses is pasteurised before distillation. This prevents the distillate from being contaminated by bacteria or wild yeasts. All Types of Don Q are distilled, matured and bottled on site.
