The Rhum J.M Canopée Agricole Hors d'Âge from the distillery, which was founded in 1845, is a cuvée of six-year-old rums that are processed into a popular rum. Untreated sugar cane was pressed directly after the harvest and distilled on French-style column stills (créole). The Rhum Agricole then matured in oak barrels in the tropical climate of Martinique. Rhum J.M is one of the oldest producers of Rhum Agricole on the island of Martinique, which is part of the Lesser Antilles. The distillery is located at the foot of the Mont-Pelée volcano. The prevailing rugged landscape and lush vegetation provide ideal conditions for the cultivation of high-quality sugar cane.
